Dome-Made Salsa with Air Fried Chips
Fresh, Rich, Tangy, Vibrant – Dome Salsa
Total Cooking Time:30 Prep Time: 15 minutes Serves: 2-4 Vegetarian-GF
Everyone loves going out for Mexican food and having fresh chips and salsa. It is a perfect precursor to a fabulous meal. However, in most cases, restaurants are not using fresh tomatoes. They are using canned tomatoes.
Lucky for us, it’s tomato season in our Domes right now, and if you are like us, you have a variety of vine-ripened tomatoes from your Growing Dome. If you haven’t tried a Dome-grown tomato, you are missing out. The filtered light and temperature in the Dome make a perfect environment to ripen your tomatoes. They are far more flavorful and delicious than any tomatoes at the market or even in the outdoor garden. We also have fantastic fresh garlic, cilantro, and onion that we harvested from the Dome. They make the absolute best fresh salsa!

Ingredients for the salsa:
6 medium dome tomatoes (about 1 ½ pounds)
3-4 cloves fresh garlic
½ cup fresh cilantro
½ cup onion
1 tbsp fresh lime juice
½ tbsp red ground pepper
¼ tsp cumin
1 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1 tsp pink Himalayan salt
***For more spice, add ¼ of a can green chilies or your favorite pepper (this is a kid-friendly version).
Air-Fried Chips:
1 package small-sized white corn tortillas
1 tbsp Tony Chachere‘s Seasoning® (or favorite spice)
1 tbsp avocado oil or spray
Preparation
Making the Salsa-
Thoroughly wash and dry your produce. Roughly chop.
Add chopped produce: tomato, garlic, cilantro, and onion to a food processor along with the spices, salt, and lime juice. Pulse in short quick intervals until it is the desired consistency. We have blended ours. You may want your salsa more chunky. Taste it, you may need a pinch more salt or spice and a squeeze of lime to balance the flavors. Place in a bowl. Let chill for 20 minutes. The flavors will develop and marry together as it chills.

Chop and Combine Veggies, Cilantro, Onion, Garlic, Lime, and Spices
How to make The Chips in the Air Fryer-
Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees. For about 3-5 minutes.
Slice the corn tortillas into four or six triangles, depending on how big you want the chips. We use white corn tortillas instead of yellow corn tortillas. They turn out more like a restaurant-style chips.
Place the cut tortillas in a large mixing bowl. Toss the pieces in a light spray or coat of avocado oil, spicy seasoning, and salt to taste.
Place one layer of tortilla chips in the bottom of the air fryer, and cook for four minutes, removing the basket halfway through to flip the chips. Place the tortilla chips on a plate to let them cool. Cover with a paper towel. Repeat until you have the desired amount of chips. Let the dipping begin!
